~~~Walking With Friends~~~[walkingwithfriends.com]
I have forever shared my passion with everyone I meet for my
favorite breed the Tennessee Walking Horse. They, with out a
doubt, are my best friends.
They keep me company during the freezing days of winter, they
and ease my mind with spring trail rides. They lighten my heart
during summer shows… then again warm my shoulders with sunlight
in the fall, only to tickle my childhood fantasies with the
sweet sound of silence as we trek thru the snow-laden trails.
Truely a horse of all seasons.
I have had some of the best adventures upon my walking horses
yet one of the ultimate experiences is when a woman named Maggie
Moore contacted me about a possible photo shoot for a book she
was in the process in preparing about Tennessee Walking Horses.
She indeed is an Amazing lady, traveling the entire United
States, state by state to find the best of what each of the 50
states has to offer with their walking horses. We were honored
to have been selected to represent the state of Pennsylvania, as
the sidesaddle riders of an age gone by, with the help of Jenny
Salter and her fabulous antebellum period attire Ms. Dana
Delzingaro and my self wore the aside riding habits upon our
favorite mounts Arian’s Foxy Gal and Generator’s Final Story. At
the conclusion of our photo shoot Ms. Moore informed us that she
was still looking for representatives from New England States.
We recommended Bonnie Brenaman from New York and Ms. Linda
Matejceck from New Jersey as well as Jacque’s Frosted Gatsby and
Ms Jacque Cowan from Maryland. We are so delighted that all our
PPWHA family and friends are a part of this amazing essay on the
character and unique qualities if the Tennessee Walking Horse.
Hats off to our amazing friends that they carry the qualities
and character that deems them perfect representatives to the
states of New England.
From Maggie Moore~
Dear Friends, The long awaited day is here. The book has
arrived, the website is up and running, and the advertising
begins next month. Two years of work culminates in a neat little
package that fits nicely on a bookshelf. And to me this is so
much more.
My focus with this project is the desire to show this wonderful
breed horse that we revere in a positive light. As a breed we
endure negative press; and as often is the casein today’s media,
the bad seems to get more column inches than the good. Equine
enthusiasts the world over should recognize that our horses are
a multi-talented as any other. Our steed can do it all, and be
smooth in the process.
As I traveled the country learned so much. I shared myself with
you, and you shared your enthusiasm with me. I am so very
fortunate to have spent time with each of you. I only hope that
you know how much that means to me. Every page in this book tugs
at my heart; the passion that we all share is truly phenomenal.
I wish that all of you could meet everyone else. No matter the
zip code, we all share so much. North, South, East or West: the
silly grin when watching a colt play or the little lump in the
back of a throat when a small child strokes a velvet nose, it’s
all the same. The light in your eyes as you described that
perfect ride has no accent. We are all of one mind when it comes
to this horse.
I became a photographer when my grandfather became blind at 80.
I learned from him how precious sight is, and how often we don’t
really see. I have spent my career trying to capture those
moments of our lives that we want to keep with us, those
memories to precious to entrust solely to the mind’s eye. With
this book, I feel as though I have gathered many of those
moments to share.
At the end of the day, what is important is not the destination
but that on the journey we are walking with friends.
